Curator of Rare Books, Beth Kilmarx, attended the annual conference of The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) in Cape Town, South Africa in August. Ms. Kilmarx serves as the American Libraries Association Rare Books and Manuscripts Section representative to IFLA.
While at IFLA, a satellite meeting convened: Managing and Promoting Special Collections in Africa: the Bleek-Lloyd Collection and Beyond, sponsored by IFLA’s Rare Books and Special Collections Section, Ms. Kilmarx moderated the panel discussion: Providing Access to African Cultural Heritage. The panel discussion explored the cultural and political issues around providing access to African cultural heritage.
