From the site: Maria Mazziotti Gillan holds the May Sarton Award in Poetry. She has eight collections of poetry to her credit, including The Weather of Old Seasons (Cross-Cultural Communications, 1988), Where I Come From (l995) and Things My Mother Told Me (Guernica Editions, I998). Her latest book is Italian Women in Black Dresses. Maria is co-editor of three anthologies published by Penguin/Putnam: Unsettling America, Identity Lessons, and Growing up Ethnic in America. She directs the Poetry Center at Passaic Community College in Paterson, NJ; and is Director of the Creative Writing Program, Binghamton-State University of New York. Photo by Ellen Denuto.
