The Libraries graduating student employees highlight – Class of 2022

Celebratory picture with shadows of various graduating students throwing their hats into the air

Congratulations to our graduating student employees! Across all our locations, our student employees helped keep the Libraries running this year whether it was shelving books, working behind the scenes cataloguing or helped patrons at our Reader Services desk. To celebrate, here is a highlight of some of our graduating student employees. We wish our graduates all the best as they continue with their next chapter.

    • The UDC always has such fun activities and events, we’ve brought in therapy dogs, made buttons and celebrated Mardi Gras!
  • Library advice for future students:
    • Take advantage of the Libraries! So many people don’t explore the spaces and just stay where they’re used to, but there are so many hidden gems in the Libraries.
  • Go-to favorite Libraries study spot:
    • There’s a balcony in Bartle that never has anybody on it and I love going and doing my work there. It’s easy to get to, close to a water fountain and bathroom and Jazzman’s is right downstairs!

    • They have textbooks available to borrow for almost every class! No need to spend hundreds a semester to buy them when you can just borrow them for a couple of hours.
  • Go-to favorite Libraries study spot:

  • Library advice for future students:
    • Know how the printing process works because we will get a lot of questions about it and the IT desk isn’t always staffed!

  • Library advice for future students:
    • Something I didn’t know about the library before working here was that Bartle had more than 2 floors. I used to think it was only the first floor and the floor going up the stairs.

    • My favorite go-to spot to study in the library is the computer area.

Kiana Williams (she/her)

  • Favorite moment working at the Libraries:
    • Getting to explain the wonders of the library to new student patrons and new student workers.
  • Library advice for future students:
    • If you can’t find a book for your class, come to the front desk! Chances are it’s on course reserve, you can get it through an InterLibrary Loan or a student worker might have just taken the course.
  • Go-to favorite Libraries study spot:
    • Definitely in Library Grounds. No one goes there so it’s not as packed as the rest of Bartle.
