It is finally here! After over five years of renovations and planning, the new Digital Scholarship Center (LS-3505) is now open. We are so excited for all of you to experience it with us. The new space includes:
- a large and flexible instruction and event space
- all new furniture and technology for presenting and teaching
- a recording studio with new equipment
- and a Data Studio with statistical software for working on data-heavy projects

Events
The Digital Scholarship Social will be our first event in the new space from 4 – 6 p.m. Wednesday, February 5. Come, enjoy refreshments and connect with other Digital Scholars and digital humanities community members to celebrate the beginning of the spring semester.
Closely followed is Love Data Week which Digital Scholarship will be celebrating with three different events:
- Dear Data: Data Physicalization Workshop

Learn how to collect data about your life and use it to create 3D data visualizations with everyday craft items. - Metadata Meet Cute: Your Data’s Favorite Data
1 – 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 12
Join our panel discussion on creating metadata and storing data using the ORB and other repositories for research. The panel includes:- Sasha Frizzell talking about metadata for data
- Caitlin Holton talking about storing and using the ORB for research data
- Dr. Christina Baer who will discuss her experience with both
- Linked Data Lightning Talks
1 – 2 p.m. Thursday, February 13
The Libraries’ Linked Data Group was launched in January 2023 and this event includes information about linked data basics, followed by short lightning projects highlighting the work done within the group and the opportunities linked data presents for everyone.
Throughout the semester, the Digital Scholarship team will be hosting several Wake Up with Digital Scholarship sessions. Join the Libraries Digital Scholarship team for coffee, treats and the opportunity to create new connections (or just ease into your day) before heading into your day. These will take place 9 – 11 a.m. Thursday mornings on February 20, March 27, and April 24.
