Last year\u2019s winner of the purchase prize was Nadezhda Blot (Class of 2023, Cinema) for her mixed-media work \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/suny-bin.primo.exlibrisgroup.com\/permalink\/01SUNY_BIN\/1rqmqsn\/alma9937177079704802\">How we live<\/a>.\u201d Two other entrants were awarded honorable mentions: Hannah Carr-Murphy (PhD candidate, Creative Writing) for \u201cForced meditations on death: Zuihitsu;\u201d and Alison Goodrich (Class of 2023, Graphic Design) for \u201cTake to the air.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Purchase Prize:<\/strong> The recipient of the 2024 student book arts competition award will receive a purchase prize of $500 and their work will become the property of Binghamton University as part of the holdings of the Libraries\u2019 Special Collections. Eligible works are those that are inspired by, engage with or challenge the book form and\/or the idea of the book; including artists\u2019 books, found art, and works that combine typography, graphic design, letterpress printing, printmaking, photography, digital techniques, bookbinding, or papermaking. The work must be unique or a limited edition multiple. To drop off submissions at other times, contact speccoll@binghamton.edu. If the original artwork cannot be delivered by the deadline because it is in a student exhibition or has been turned in to a professor for grading, please submit the entry form and contact us to make other arrangements for the delivery of the artwork. The deadline to submit the online entry form and artwork is 4:00 pm on Thursday, April 25, 2024. No late or incomplete submissions will be accepted, except as noted above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Open House Exhibition:<\/strong> All submitted artwork and artist\u2019s statements will be exhibited in Special Collections on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Works will be exhibited in the Professor Bernard F. Hupp\u00e9 Reading Room in Special Collections (LN2320).
