Carefully revised and corrected by the former editions, and adorned with sculptures designed and executed by the best hands.<\/strong>\u00a0 Oxford, :\u00a0Printed at the Theatre.\u00a01744.<\/p>\n<p>To mark the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare&#8217;s death (April 23, 2016), a six volume set of William Shakespeare&#8217;s works has been selected as the &#8216;Book of the Month&#8221; for April.<\/p>\n<p>The above title page is found only in volume 1;\u00a0the other volumes, 2-6 have title: The works of Mr. William Shakespear &#8230; 1743[-44]. \u00a0The latter title appears also in v. 1 but in the form of an\u00a0added title page.\u00a0 This set was edited by Sir Thomas Hanmer, and it followed Pope\u2019s edition of 1723-25.\u00a0\u00a0 Each volumes contains the Chandos portrait, views of the Westminster abbey monument and Stratford bust (the latter altered as in Pope\u2019s edition), and an engraving to each play.\u00a0 The engravings were all done by\u00a0Gravelot after Hayman&#8217;s work.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/libnews.binghamton.edu\/news\/specialcollections\/files\/2016\/04\/hammie5.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3051 aligncenter\" alt=\"hammie5\" src=\"http:\/\/libnews.binghamton.edu\/news\/specialcollections\/files\/2016\/04\/hammie5.jpg\" width=\"446\" height=\"639\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The contents of each volume is as follows:\u00a0 v. 1.
