Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to family photographs, tax returns and a handwritten recipe for \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/gothamist.com\/2011\/07\/29\/on_the_nyc_auction_block_rosa_parks.php#photo-7\">featherlite pancakes.<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The collection, which includes roughly 7,500 manuscript items and 2,500 photographs, is on loan to the library for 10 years from the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, which\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com\/2014\/09\/10\/rosa-parks-collection-going-to-library-of-congress\/\">acquired\u00a0<\/a>the collection in 2014 after a dispute involving Parks\u2019s heirs that had left the papers languishing in a warehouse for nearly a decade following\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2005\/10\/25\/us\/25parks.html\">her death<\/a>in 2005. (If the archives move elsewhere, the digital files will remain at the library.)<\/p>\n<p>The papers, which cover nearly 140 years of Parks family history, provide an intimate view of Parks\u2019s life, including the day in December 1955 when she refused to move to the back of the bus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had been pushed around all my life and felt at this moment that I couldn\u2019t take it anymore,\u201d she wrote in an undated manuscript. \u201cWhen I asked the policeman why we had to be pushed around? He said he didn\u2019t know. \u2018The law is the law.
