Check out how it all came together.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Real props<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"1.1\" alt=\"1.1\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn2.hubspot.net\/hub\/400682\/file-2037054477-jpg\/1.1.jpg?t=1415394108226\" width=\"560\" \/><\/p>\n<p>University Archivist Yvonne Deligato pulled yearbooks, hats, apparel and\u00a0photographs from the University Archives to give the set an authentic 1940s look.<\/p>\n<h2><!--more--><strong>Never-before-seen footage<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"J\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn2.hubspot.net\/hub\/400682\/file-2037779610-jpg\/J.jpg?t=1415394108226\" width=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The TV plays clips of never-before-seen film from the University vault, converted to digital by James Pitarresi,\u00a0assistant provost and executive director of the Center for Learning and Teaching, and distinguished teaching professor of mechanical engineering.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Repurposed antiques<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"3\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn2.hubspot.net\/hub\/400682\/file-2036056449-jpg\/3.jpg?t=1415394108226\" width=\"650\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The TV, which sits center on the set, is actually from 1948. University Video Producer Andrew Hatling bought the piece off Craigslist and purchased set props from local antique stores.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Custom-made wall<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"4-1\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn2.hubspot.net\/hub\/400682\/file-2033356118-jpg\/4-1.jpg?t=1415394108226\" width=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the Theatre Department, the 10-by-12 foot background wall was constructed and decorated with\u00a0period wallpaper. Looks pretty 1940s, right?<\/p>\n<h2><strong>And when that wall falls? That\u2019s real, too.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"5-1\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn2.hubspot.net\/hub\/400682\/file-2036333926-jpg\/5-1.jpg?t=1415394108226\" width=\"625\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That wall falling down isn\u2019t a visual effect.\u00a0Three crew members were on either side of the structure and had to let it drop at the exact same time.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>There <em>were<\/em> some visual effects, though.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"unnamed\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn2.hubspot.net\/hub\/400682\/file-2033411438-gif\/unnamed.gif?t=1415394108226\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The TV had been gutted and modified to hold a modern LCD screen, which was later digitally replaced. Oh, and that beautiful sunset? Also, digitally replaced!\u00a0 &lt;!&#8211;[endif]&#8211;&gt;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Two sets, one day!\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"7.2\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn2.hubspot.net\/hub\/400682\/file-2037935065-jpg\/7.2.jpg?t=1415394108226\" width=\"575\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The commercial had two filming locations, first in the Anderson Center&#8217;s Chamber Hall and then on the DeFleur Walkway. The crew had to transport the set and reconstruct it on the University Spine. Shout out to the Communications and Marketing web team for their help moving the huge wall!<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Spot your friends?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"8-1\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn2.hubspot.net\/hub\/400682\/file-2033461498-jpg\/8-1.jpg?t=1415394108226\" width=\"575\" \/><\/p>\n<p>See if you recognize any of the extras.
