The text\u00a0 is split into three sections. The first section argues why witchcraft is real and how dangerous witchcraft can be to the community. The second section relates how witches operate and relates real cases of witches and witchcraft. The last section tells the reader how best to discover a witch and the legal measure that must be taken to prove that the person is in fact a witch. In all, the <em>Mallevs maleficarvm <\/em>acted as a handbook for the understanding and discovery of witches in Europe during this period.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/libnews.binghamton.edu\/news\/specialcollections\/files\/2014\/10\/malleus-cover.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2365\" alt=\"malleus cover\" src=\"http:\/\/libnews.binghamton.edu\/news\/specialcollections\/files\/2014\/10\/malleus-cover.jpg\" width=\"297\" height=\"448\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The book has a limp vellum binding with yapp edges.\u00a0 Holes and the remains of leather\u00a0ties are evident\u00a0on both covers.\u00a0 A green morocco spine\u00a0leather piece has the title stamped in gilt\u00a0and is decorated with\u00a0\u00a0gilt fillets.\u00a0 The text has running titles; decorated initials, signatures, guide words, and tail-pieces.\u00a0 There is a printer&#8217;s device on the verso of the last page.<\/p>\n<p><em>Mallevs maleficarvm.\u00a0 <\/em>By Henricus Institoris (Heinrich Kr\u00e4mer) and Jakob Sprenger.\u00a0 Published by Nicolaum Bassaeum.\u00a0 Francofvrti ad Moenvm: 1580.<\/p>\n<p><em>Mallevs maleficarvm<\/em> is housed in the\u00a0Rare Book Collection, located\u00a0in the Special Collections, University Archives and Preservation department of the Glenn G.
