Renowned percussionist, Binghamton native and Binghamton alum, Sherrie Maricle, will join the Harpur Jazz Ensemble in a big band jazz concert conducted by Michael Carbone and accompanied by guest bassist player Jennifer Leitham at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 23, in the Osterhout Concert Theater.
A full day of jazz begins with a free mid-day concert at 1:20 p.m. with Mike Carbone on saxophone and flute, Bill Carter on piano, Camille Thurman on tenor saxophone and Al Hamme on alto saxophone. At 2:30 p.m. Maricle will conduct a free jazz clinic.
The day of Big Band Jazz is co-sponsored by the Department of Music and the Harpur Jazz Project.
