“#BingCollects: Rights, Radicals, & Revolutionaries,” a Binghamton University Art Museum and Libraries Special Collections pop-up project

#BingCollects is back for the fourth time this year! Initiated in fall 2022, this pop-up exhibition is a collaboration between the Binghamton University Art Museum and the Libraries Special Collections. It aims to raise student awareness of both collections’ rich holdings available for them to explore. Pop-ups are held in different locations on campus throughout the year, and feature objects from our collections on a common theme and sub-theme.

The theme for the 2026–2027 academic year is “Rights, Radicals, and Revolutionaries.”  Items on display highlight the history of activism and protest  through items in the Art Museum and Special Collections holdings. The fall semester focuses entirely on queer history. Look forward to seeing items related to Coming Out Day, Trans Day of Remembrance, and World AIDS Day. The fall pop-ups are in anticipation of the Art Museum’s Spring ‘27 show, Bitter/Sweet: Contemporary Queer Art, which explores key moments and artists in LGBTQ+ history and culture. The exhibition addresses the bittersweet nature of nostalgia, and the often-simultaneous joy and pain of memory.

Come and see our pop-ups around campus throughout the year, and enjoy cool art and books up close, ask questions and chat with librarians, curators, and museum interns. Learn about the history of protest and activism available in our collections, or just enjoy the artwork and other historical material. Everyone is invited! Be on the lookout for where #BingCollects pops up next!
