Join us for a screening of the documentary film, ‘All That Lies Between Us’, at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 18, in LH-7, followed by a Q&A with filmmakers, live music and refreshments. Blending interviews, poetry, photography and music, ‘All That Lies Between Us’ is a moving account of the life and work of Binghamton University Professor Maria Mazziotti Gillan, the award-winning author and poet whose humble upbringing in an Italian-American enclave of Paterson, N.J., inspired much of her writing and led her to establish innovative and highly respected literary ventures in the historic city − including the Poetry Center at Passaic County Community College.
The documentary incorporates images of Paterson that juxtapose sad, urban decay with thrilling, natural wonders and remnants of an industrial past with scenes from contemporary life. In addition to her work as a writer and faculty member, Gillan is director of the Creative Writing Program and the Binghamton Center for Writers. Co-¬sponsored by the English Department and Center for Civic Engagement.
