Harpur College of Arts & Sciences has always been the intellectual heart of Binghamton University. To represent Harpur’s centrality to the campus, the plaza being developed between the science complex, the fine arts facilities, and the Library Tower will be named Harpur Quad. Located at the crossroads of the sciences, the fine arts, the social sciences and the humanities, Harpur Quad will establish a physical identity for Binghamton University’s largest school and symbolize the importance of the liberal arts and sciences at Binghamton. The Harpur College pylon, located near the main campus entrance on Vestal Parkway, will be moved to the Harpur Quad during the summer, lending a sense of history to this beautiful new space.
Join the grand opening celebration of the Harpur Quad during Homecoming Weekend, on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 2 p.m. At this time, the new Harpur College “Wall of Excellence,” located on the ground floor of Library Tower will also be unveiled. The display features a history of Harpur College, points of distinction, and recognition of outstanding faculty, remarkable students, and accomplished alumni.
