Darwin First Editions are Cool Site for June 2011

The History of Science Collections of the University of Oklahoma Libraries offer 23 volumes of Charles Darwin’s works for perusal. Charles Darwin’s 23 printed volumes are listed in chronological order and linked to high resolution versions in the University of Oklahoma Libraries History of Science Collections’ Online Galleries. With the exception of the Zoology of the Voyage of H.M.S. Beagle, all Darwin first editions were published in London by John Murray.

The History of Science Collections current holdings consist of nearly 100,000 volumes, representing every field and subject area of science, technology and medicine, include complete sets of first editions of major scientists such as Copernicus, Galileo, Newton and Darwin. Volumes range chronologically from Hrabanus Maurus, Opus de universo (1467), to current publications in the history of science.
