Dean of Libraries Andrea Falcone is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Seeber as Senior Assistant Dean for Research, Learning and Access Services.

Seeber, who comes to Binghamton after two years at Penn State Abington in Abington, Pennsylvania, will start his position September 11, 2025.

“The Senior Assistant Dean for Research, Learning and Access Services will oversee key components of outreach to the campus community,” said Dean Falcone. “Kevin will join the libraries’ team with exceptional knowledge of library strategies and will provide thoughtful leadership in advancing the mission and vision of Binghamton University Libraries.”

Seeber holds a bachelor’s degree in history with a humanities minor and a Master of Science in Library and Information Studies, both from Florida State University. His research interests have broadly related to instruction and assessment of information literacy skills, as well as the affective experience of information seeking and the influence of algorithmic bias. Much of his work is informed by the ideas of “critical librarianship” and has been bringing related concepts into library administration.

While serving as Head Librarian at Penn State Abington, Seeber led library operations, including managing the budget, facilities, collections and public services. Prior to going to Penn State he was Head of Education and Outreach Services at Auraria Library in Denver, Colorado, as well as Auraria’s First-Year Teaching and Learning Librarian. Seeber has also served as Library Instruction Coordinator and Government Documents Librarian at Colorado State University-Pueblo and Library Operations Supervisor at Florida State University’s Strozier Library.

“Binghamton University is a great institution with great libraries, and I’m thrilled to be joining the campus community,” said Seeber. “It’s clear that Binghamton is making strategic investments in the University Libraries that will support research and creative activities for decades to come, and I look forward to contributing to that effort.”
