The Libraries have continued to grow to include some exceptional people to our team this past fall that we had to have a part two! This spotlight of our new hires shares a little about each of them as we welcome them to the Libraries and the Binghamton community.
Allison Gilli (she / her)
Libraries Administration Associate
Allison serves as the Libraries Administration Associate and has been with Binghamton University for just over 10 years. Prior to joining the Libraries in September, Allison worked in a variety of roles in Human Resources including Student Employment, Payroll, Classified Employment and Faculty Employment. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree with a major in English, General Literature and Rhetoric from Binghamton and received her Master’s degree with a concentration in Human Resources and Employment Relations from Pennsylvania State University.
Professionally, Allison enjoys reviewing organizational structure and the employee experience to streamline functions and processes to improve the workplace.
Outside of work, Allison enjoys DIY projects, music, working out and spending time with her son and their cat (Spiderly).
Kathy Hart (she / her)
Libraries Facilities Manager
Kathy joins the Libraries as Facilities Manager following previous positions on campus including Staff Assistant to the Director of Operations at Physical Facilities for 3 years (2016-2019) and Physical Facilities Customer Service Manager for 3 years (2019 – 2022). Previously, Kathy was employed for 21 years at Emerson Network Power formerly located in Binghamton, NY where she held a variety of positions including Customer Service Manager and Executive Assistant to the President.
Kathy holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Human Resources from NYS Excelsior College. Currently, she is enrolled in the Master’s of Higher Education Administration Program at Stony Brook University with an expected graduation in May 2023. Kathy is also a Fall 2021 graduate of BU’s Leadership Development Program.
She loves to read mysteries and probably reads about one per week! Kathy likes mysteries with police, private detectives and amateur detectives solving mysteries. She enjoys series that have several books one after the other. Her recent group is the Cormoran Strike series by Robert Gallbraith, a pseudonym for J.K. Rowling.
Jeanne Ball (she / her)
Associate Director of Finance
After 8 years of working in the Binghamton University Budget Office, Jeanne joined the Libraries on October 31, 2022 to become the Associate Director of Library Finance. Prior to working at the University, Jeanne received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics at College Misericordia and worked for many years in the Actuarial department of Columbian Financial Group.
While Jeanne enjoys working with numbers, she especially enjoys using Business Intelligence, excel and other database tools to manage large datasets and create reports.
At home Jeanne stays busy with her family, a husband, three active kids and one crazy Jack Russell Terrier. In her free time, Jeanne enjoys making various crafts with a Cricut Maker machine, scrapbooking, running and playing softball.
