Integrating Open Educational Resources into the Classroom Curriculum Workshop, Dec. 1

The Binghamton University Libraries and the Center for Learning and Teaching invite you to a workshop on integrating Open Educational Resources (OER’s) into the classroom curriculum.
The workshop will focus on the use of OER’s as a strategy for providing students with access to high-quality and affordable educational content. OER’s are any resources available at little or no cost that can be used for teaching, learning or research. These resources can include textbooks, course readings and other learning content; simulations, games and other learning applications; syllabi, quizzes and assessment tools; and virtually any other material that can be used for educational purposes. The intended audience is faculty, librarians and instructional designers who have an interest in learning more about SUNY OER landscape.
Guest speaker Dr. Robin DeRosa, professor and director of Interdisciplinary Studies at Plymouth State University, will discuss her current research, which focuses on open education, and how universities can innovate in order to bring down costs for students, increase interdisciplinary collaboration and student contribution to scholarly knowledge, and refocus the academic world on strengthening the public good. Robin is an editor for Hybrid Pedagogy, an open-access, peer-reviewed journal that combines the strands of critical pedagogy and digital pedagogy to arrive at the best social and civil uses for technology and new media in education.
The workshop will be held 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1 in the Zurack Family High-Technology Collaboration Center (LN-1302C).
Register online by Wednesday, Nov. 29.  Lunch will be provided
If you unable to attend the event on campus, a live stream of the workshop will be available via WebEx. Register for access.
