From Cradle to Grave: A lecture on life-cycle rituals in Ancient China

What is ritunnamed-4ual (Li) in traditional China? “Li” in Chinese does not have an equivalent translation in English. As a key concept in ancient Chinese politics and culture, a ritual is too abstract and complicated to define without the situational context needed for an accurate interpretation.
Join us, as Siyin Zhao, doctoral candidate in history, offers insight and understanding into the rituals that regulated almost all aspects of the state and people of Ancient China.

A light reception from 11:30 a.m. precedes the noon lecture, which will be held on Thursday, March 30, in the Zurack Collaboration Center in Bartle Library (Newcomb Reading Room). For more information and to RSVP, go online
