Visit our new exhibit: “Windows in the Sea: The Life and Work of Marion C. Link”

Link Opening 2 Oct 2015
The exhibit will remain on the second floor mezzanine of Bartle Library throughout the academic year – all are welcome.

Many are already familiar with the name Edwin A. Link and his impressive contributions to aeronautics, education, philanthropy, science, the community and the greater world.
However, Marion Link, his partner and wife, was an equally impressive individual.  This exhibit represents her life interests and accomplishments, highlighting the many years the couple dedicated to the study and exploration of the sea.
This thoughtfully curated exhibit displays a number of Marion’s writings, postcards and other travel mementos, in addition to books, articles and publicity about her and her interests and accomplishments.

In addition to her family, community and business roles, Marion was a successful author who remained dedicated to the craft of writing throughout her life time.

The detailed journals she kept throughout the years provided critical reference for a number of her and her husband’s books, articles and essays. Marion herself published two books: Sea Diver and Windows in the Sea.
As a fitting tribute and legacy, the Link family established the Marion Clayton Link Marion Link_MrsLOvalx200Endowment in Creative Writing at Binghamton University.
In recognition of her dedication to education,   Marion was appointed by the Governor of New York as one of the first members of the Harpur College Council (which later became the Binghamton University Council). This is merely one her many appointments, awards and honors.
Since its establishment by Edwin and Marion Link in 1953, the Link Foundation has awarded more than $14 million to universities, colleges and other non-profit organizations – generosity that continues to have a profound and far-reaching impact on education.
More about Marion and Edwin Link, and their extensive collections, can be accessed through the University Libraries Special Collections Department  or by contacting us directly.
