Lecture on The Inca Calendar

The world’s foremost authority on the ancient Incas of Peru, R. Tom Zuidema of the University of Illinois, will present a lecture on the Inca Calendar at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, in S1-149. The Inca Calendar apparently combined lunar and solar movements that were observed by women and men respectively. Zuidema’s new understandings and interpretations are revolutionary, and he has recently presented them at the National Geographic Society, the Peruvian Ministry of Culture in Cusco and elsewhere.
