The Nukporfe African Dance-Drumming Ensemble, directed by Professor James Burns and Pierrette Aboadji, will give its annual spring performance at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 5, in the Anderson Center Chamber Hall. The presentation will include African music performed by a full ensemble of drummers and dancers. African dance-drumming typically juxtaposes several art forms together including storytelling, pantomime, oral history and community wisdom. Nukporfe will also perform at Spring Fling at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at the Library Tower. Both concerts are free and are sponsored by the Department of Music.
