Spike Lee

The director of the month for April is Spike Lee . He first gained attention with the films She’s Gotta Have It and School Daze, which covered issues of race, gender and class. Although known for his films depicting race relations in America, he’s an eclectic filmmaker, directing biopics (Malcolm X), documentaries (4 Little Girls, When the Levees Broke), satire (Bamboozled), character studies (25th Hour) and heist films (Inside Man).
