2017 Open Access Week Events

For this year’s Open Access Week (Oct. 23-29), we are hosting two events for the University community:

Open Access: What It Means For You

The conversation about Open Access within SUNY has grown with recent passage earlier in 2017 of a resolution calling for SUNY Open Access Repository Policies at the SUNY University Faculty Senate. Several SUNY campuses have passed Open Access policies for their researchers and students.
Nick Shockey, director of programs and engagement, Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC), will discuss what Open Access means and how it may impact the reach of your work.
3:30-5 p.m., October 25, Science Library Classroom 310
For more information about the recent SUNY Open Access Resolution, visit Resolution Calling for SUNY Open Access Repository Policies.
Not sure what a campus Open Access Resolution looks like? View Stony Brook’s Open Access Policy.
Refreshments will be served.  Registration is encouraged.

The Evolving ORB

One year ago the Libraries launched The Open Repository @ Binghamton (The ORB).
Join us for lunch to celebration of The ORB’s one-year anniversary. Anne Larrivee, project leader for The ORB’s launch, will share information on the development and creation of this platform as well as changes in content and scope since its launch. Information also will be presented on how the ORB can support your scholarship
Noon-1:30 p.m., October 26, Zurack Collaboration Center (Newcomb Reading Room)
Lunch will be served. Registration is required.
